Big Bull Creek WWTP and Collection System

With design-build partner Burns & McDonnell, CAS is working on the design and construction of a 500,000 GPD average flow wastewater treatment plant, inclusive of an 8,500 LF (approx.) forcemain and a 5,800 LF (approx.) gravity sewer collection system.

The collection system includes three lift station to convey waste to the treatment plant. The collection system also includes a 400 LF boring under I-35 in Johnson County, KS. Treatment plant process includes headworks and grit removal, comprised of fine screen, vortex grit removal, grit pump, grit classifier and grit concentrator. The project also includes RAS/WAS pumping station, 100′ diamater aeration basin and two Schreiber clarifiers. Additional fewatures include 100′ equalization basin set up for future expansion to additional aeration basin, aerobic digester with coarse bubble diffuesed aeration. CAS is also constructing a solids processing building utilizing a grinder, progressive cavity pump and centrifuge with space for future expansion, as well as an effluent building utilizing Nova media filtration and Wedeco in channel UV disinfection.

The project also includes chemical feed systems including polymer and alum feed storage tank and metering pump skids, as well as effluent piping to an outfall structure at the Big Bull Creek.
